Summary

Finn met a girl named Jez, who really caught his attention, he kind of felt for her while Amanda was really mad about it and not only that but also the idea that Finn wasn't telling her everything.
The hosts discussed of the really shocking time they just passed which was being right in front of a which, Maleficent. The hosts started to search for clues of what they could find about the elements of the story (sun, cloud, wind and stone) but they thought that what they are looking for won't appear in the outside world so they decided to look for clues in the park and arrange to meet at the park. Once in the park they decided they would meet at Small World ride because in that attraction is where the biggest sun in Magic Kingdom was located and from the theme song they could hear the lyrics related to the sun which was, "there is just one moon and one golden sun". Then they could see that once they were not looking the dolls started to move and walk away from their position and started chasing them. They rowed as hard as they could but the dolls were starting to grow in number, they didn't know what to do. Finn then started to sing along with the lyrics of Small World, "there is just one moon and one golden sun and a smile means friendship to everyone." Thats how Finn realize that if they all smile the dolls would not attack them, and it worked. The next day standing on the street Amanda and Finn were chatting and then they saw Maybeck, they continued chatting and then is when Finn saw an older woman at the other side of the street, with gloves and a lot, a lot of make up, she was wearing winter clothes in a hot day, why? He told Maybeck to check it out, it was kind of suspicious. Then Finn thought only she would wear that much of make up and those clothes if she had something to hide like her skin, it can be her green skin, and then the woman got in a car a ride as fast as she could. That night they agreed to meet at the park again, Finn thought that now they could see things different if they wear 3D glasses and look carefully at every attraction they went through. Finn and Philby went to Splash Mountain because that was the ride that had numerous clouds. They look carefully and realize that at the largest drop something would go wrong and they could crash, but at the longest drop Finn saw in a cloud the letter F M E and suddenly they kind of transport themselves like they were able to control their half hologram and half human form.

They run to meet the others but Maybeck was not there. The hosts didn't know what to do, they had to be careful that they would not get caught by any guard and Maybeck got caught so they decided to go to the secret doors of the Cinderella Castle they were known as the VMK.
Once in the Castle they heard the voice of a woman, it was Maleficent. They kind of turn invisible and were able to scape. The next day they went to visit Maybeck, but he was asleep, trap in Magic Kingdom he still was crossed over.

This quote says a lot about the Overtakers. Is it possible that Maleficent was able to get out from the park? How? If that was really her, what could the other Overtakers do? Do they have an outside help?

"Now, Finn Whitman,  you shall deal with me," the witch said, casting an arc of sand inside..."We've got to leave."Finn hardly heard any of this. He was not thinking of the water, nor the crow, nor the eel. He was, instead thinking only this one thing, over and over, She knew my name. She knew my name."

Since Finn is the leader of the hosts maybe the Overtakers could have set him as a target. But how did Maleficent find out about the hosts and most importantly how did she find them and worst and how does she knows Finns name? I could guess that she has something to do with Maybeck gone missing. Where is Wayne in all this trouble?

Final Thoughts

So far The Kingdom Keepers is an incredibly exciting book with lots of suspense and questions that need to be answer. I am really curious to know what exactly happen to Maybeck and how could Maleficent travel to the outside world if she did. What comes to my head when I read this previous chapters was what Wayne said to the hosts about the Overtakes which was that the Overtakers couldn't find out about the hosts. The hosts needed to stop them before they could stop the hosts. I do believe that in the next chapters is possible that now they are gonna face a real battle because is pretty obvious that the Overtakers already know about them, but what do they know? I can also predict that maybe the people that got Maybeck won't let him go so the hosts will have to find out as quickly as they can what do sun, cloud, wind and stone means in order to find why its name is Stonecutters Quill.

Cross Over

Summary

Once Finn found Charlene and agree to meet in the park, that night Finn went very early to sleep. He once again was in the park and found Wayne. Wayne start to tell Finn new things such as why is so important for the hosts to be together and for Finn to be the leader, they were all chosen. Wayne explain Finn about how strong dreams can be and Walt Disney knew that. Walt was strong enough to dream so big and so deep that it made them come true that is how the park was build, how the characters were build and most importantly how the magic was build. But like there is good magic there is also black magic, that black magic is the Overtakers. The Overtakers are trying to destroy everything. Machines at the park are doing things that they were not program to do, a dragon set Mickey Mouse on fire, that is not how it is suppose to happen. Walt knew about this black magic. Then they finally saw Charlene but she wasn't the only one, Philby was also there.
Suddenly Finn and Wayne saw some pirates like Pirates from the Caribbean but they were different, they were machines who took orders that came near Finn and Wayne, they start to talk to Finn giving him orders, Finn went with them, Charlene and Philby, the other hosts hide behind a tree. These pirates start comanding Finn but he would not follow any order then they attack him, he fought against these pirates and Philby and Charlene run to help him but Finn got harm.
Charlene, Philby and Finn run to Wayne for explanations, they were only machines, why they attack them?
Wayne explain the difference between reality and imagination, the creation of dreams of Walt Disney. And about "Crossing Over" that is how was call traveling to the world of the characters, traveling to Magic Kingdom, that was what Finn, Charlene and Philby did, they were not dreaming, they Cross Over. He explained how characters come alive when the gates are closed and how trouble of the Overtakers emerged.
Most importantly he explained to them why they needed the five hosts. The characters inside the park can't stop the Overtakers because the Overtakers don't belong to the park.
That is how all the DHI program started, they created this audition for selected people from the outside world also could belong to the park and are able to interact with the Overtakers and stop them. They don't travel to the park being an hologram or a person they travel being both, they are the eyes and ears of the park in the outside world, they are their hope.
Now they knew the truth. Finn would keep looking for the rest of the hosts but Amanda already found Willa and Maybeck. There was no more searching, they found the 5 hosts.
Finn told Amanda everything, he trust her.
In a virtual video game that was addicting for kids the five hosts unite to chat and agree to go sleep at the same time so they can see each other at the park with Wayne. They all appeared at different places and then with Wayne they found each other. Wayne told them a story of how Walt Disney wished and was able to become the elements of sun, cloud, wind and stone and those elements the five hosts needed to be focus in. Wayne explain them that they need to solve a fable known as Stonecutters Quill that was build by Walt but no one was able to solve it, not even Wayne, they needed to find out why its name was Stonecutters Quill and its meaning, they all had special abilities that they were chosen for. Wayne explain them how they needed to be careful so the Overtakers will not discover them and stop the hosts before they are able to stop them. The research started, they divided work according to their abilities, forming strategies and discussing details. Once again they met at the park, but something happen, they felt an extreme coldness and then is when Maleficent appeared, an Overtaker and then was gone.

This quote really caught my attention because no matter if is in a book or in real life we all know Walt Disney was a dreamer and that is what the quote is saying, is talking about his dreams. He did made them come true in a way and in this book any dream came true for him. How the book describes his dreams its actually pretty amazing everything he was able to achieve and most incredible the magic and technology combined, its absolutely incredible.





"As I said, Walt knew such a time would come. He left us a treasure map, for a scavenger hunt, something the Overtakers could not easily figure out, even if they obtain it, which they never have. Most of them are machines, you see--audio-animatronics and figures from attractions. Only a handful can think, can communicate. But they control the others."

My main question now is; what is this fable all about? Exactly what was Walt Disney propose on creating this? He knew this would come, how?
I do have a lot of questions, the problem now is starting to develop a lot and is getting pretty confusing and excited at the same time.

Final Thoughts

The book so far is being really interesting and very entreating. A lot of suspense has been going on and is getting pretty exciting. A lot of my questions had been answer such as why holograms? Now I understand why they build all this program and the auditions to select the five hosts and make them be part of the park and the outside world, half hologram, half human, in other words half technology and half normal world. Now the park has the 5 hosts together and the hope of stoping the Overtakers grows even more and more. I predict that love is going to rise between Amanda and Finn but I think Amanda is hiding something. Also I predict that the next time they meet at the park, again they will find Maleficent and this time she will stay.

The Kingdom Keepers, Disney After Dark

Summary

Finn, one night had what it can be call a "dream" but extremely different, he found himself in a place very familiar but hard to define. There was a Castle, a Cinderella Castle, a Goofy statue, an Exhibition Hall with Disney Characters and that is when he realize he was standing in the heart of Magic Kingdom Park. But it was dark and different, then an old man with white hair come to him, his name was Wayne. Wayne start to talk about "the other ones", Finn was only a kid who could not possibly figure out what was going on, he couldn't figure out anything Wayne was saying or who Wayne was and worst something strange was happening to his arm it was kind of turning translucent. Wayne told Finn he actually helped Walt Disney build this park and all the magic inside, and that everything that was going on was not a dream...

"This is getting a little weird, I think I want to go back now"
"I will push the button if you want, but I will have to warn you..."
"Warn me about what"
"What you will be missing. The park after dark. Basically all to yourself. The attractions operate day and night. Not many people know that."
"Now I know that I am dreaming."
"But you aren't..."

That button was what actually took him there, to Magic Kingdom. Wayne talk about the audition Finn did to become a Magic Kingdom host and how he was a chosen one. This couldn't be any weird.

"We've got a problem. A big problem. A problem that affects not only the park, but the world outside the park. We call them the Overtakers...You need to contact the other hosts. All four. Arrange to meet them here at the same time. All five of you, I need you together. Here. All in the same place at the same time. I can explain it to you then. Once. As a group. Just the one time. You can decide as a group if you want to help us or not."

Finn suddenly found himself in his bedroom back again, standing, looking at the moon and saw it exactly the same like he saw it in the park, it was like he transport or something. The next day he told everything to his friend Dillard but of course he thought Finn was insane.
Finn remembered his audition, the one he did to become a Magic Kingdom host and remember there were other kids there, other 4 kids; Willa, Charlene, Maybeck and Philby. He remembered how everything function to become a Magic Kingdom host, it was everything based on technology, holograms who were exactly alike and copy every movement they made, it was a three dimensional image that look so real but it wasn't. Those holograms were the ones who will stand at the stages.
With a friend of his named Amanda who's parents worked at Magic Kingdom he return to the park after school, he notice two men who were looking at him very weird and start following him, with the help of Amanda he ran away and decide he will find the other hosts, he was only able to find Charlene...

When I first read this I thought, why would Ridley Pearson make a host be a hologram? When hosts can be themselves and not a three dimensional image, they still can "wow" the audience, I mean what is the difference? But then I thought about the "dream" Finn had in which his arm turn translucent and they talk about this button, maybe he went there being a hologram and that can help with this problem of the Overtakers. I am wondering if this book takes place in the future, because of all this technology they talk about.

"Charlene looked straight at Amanda but spoke to Finn, "No one can know about this," she said. Then she lowered her voice and hissed, "It isn't safe".

In this quote Charlene was taking about the "dreams" of going to Magic Kingdom after dark and how the should meet there, but apparently she does not trust Amanda at all, she also knows about the Overtakers and the problem they need to solve, but exactly what is not safe? Does Charlene knows something Finn does not? With what Charlene just said, Finn knows he can't tell Amanda, no matter how good she has been with him and she has helped him, Finn just can't.

Final Thoughts

So far "The Kingdom Keepers" has been a really interesting book, with lots of mystery and suspense a lot of themes that makes you wonder, things that have confuse the protagonist and also confuses me and really a book thats makes me want to keep reading and reading. I still want to know the answer of why holograms and not the real people themselves and exactly what is the problem the hosts will have to face in order to help the park?
I predict that Charlene and Finn will meet at the park after dark and will want to hear more answers of how are they able to travel that way to the park and who are the Overtakers. Together they will keep looking for the other hosts but this men who followed Finn and Amanda are still looking for them and will find them.
